5 Reasons We’re Excited About Luthmore’s Zero-Emission, Tankless Boiler – Even Though We Missed It at the Installer Show

At Wirral Gas, we’ve spent years installing and servicing traditional gas combi boilers for homes and businesses across the UK. But the industry is changing fast — and so are we. This year, a new name caught our attention: Luthmore, with their revolutionary zero-emission, tankless alternative to a gas combi boiler, powered by cutting-edge battery technology.
Yes, we’re gutted we missed seeing it in person at the Installer Show 2025 (the team's calendar fail has been noted!), but that hasn’t stopped us from doing our research. And we have to admit — we’re genuinely impressed.
Here are five reasons why we’re open to what Luthmore is doing, and why we believe innovations like this are shaping the future of heating in the UK:
1. Zero Emissions Is the Future — Whether We Like It or Not
Let’s face it: the UK's transition to net zero is underway, and the heating industry is on the front line. Luthmore’s system offers a genuine zero-emission alternative to a gas boiler without sacrificing performance. For companies like ours who want to stay relevant — and responsible — this matters.
2. It’s Tankless – That’s a Game-Changer
Most low-carbon heating solutions still rely on bulky hot water tanks, which take up space and limit where systems can be installed. Luthmore’s tankless design means it can be fitted into smaller homes and flats — the kinds of properties where traditional heat pumps and cylinders just aren’t practical.
3. Battery-Enabled Means Flexible, Smarter Energy Use
The integrated battery system allows users to draw power when it’s cheapest or cleanest (e.g., during off-peak hours or when solar is available), making it a perfect fit for the smart, flexible grid we’re moving towards. It also gives installers and customers more confidence in resilience and performance — especially in winter.
4. It’s an Easier Sell to Boiler Replacement Customers
One of the biggest barriers to clean heat has been customer hesitancy. But Luthmore’s unit is compact, familiar in form, and offers hot water on demand — just like a combi boiler. This makes it far easier for installers (like us) to have that “let’s go greener” conversation with homeowners.
5. We Want to Work With the Best Tech – Not Against It
We’ve built our business on trust, quality workmanship, and staying up to date. That means welcoming the future, not resisting it. We’re not ready to give up gas overnight — but we are ready to train, adapt, and offer the best available options to our customers. Luthmore’s offering is one we’re definitely keeping a close eye on.
