We were commissioned to provide the full heating system for a unique barn conversion project that was being transformed into a residential home across two levels. The property owners wanted a modern, efficient solution that balanced running costs with long-term sustainability. Working alongside an external design company who created the detailed blueprint of the entire house, our role was to install every element of the heating system in line with the plans provided.
The Challenge
Heating a barn conversion presents its own set of challenges. With large open spaces, varying ceiling heights, and the need to integrate modern systems into a non-traditional building, energy efficiency was a key concern. The homeowners were considering both conventional boilers with underfloor heating and newer renewable technologies. The aim was to achieve comfortable, even heat distribution throughout the property while also taking advantage of government-backed support schemes to reduce upfront costs.
Our Solution
We installed a complete underfloor heating system across both levels of the barn, ensuring consistent warmth throughout the property. After assessing the options, an air source heat pump was chosen for its long-term efficiency and eligibility under the government grant scheme. By registering the system for the grant, the homeowners benefited from financial support while also investing in a greener, lower-cost heating solution compared to traditional boilers.
Our team worked seamlessly with the external company’s blueprint, ensuring each component was installed precisely to specification. The end result was a fully integrated heating system that combined the comfort of underfloor heating with the sustainability of renewable energy, future-proofing the property for years to come.
